Saturday Hike etc
Very steep vinyard area
Rija loves the water!
More airbnb patio views Sunday hike
| Strict rules in the coffee room at the institute on campus! (it's in English b/c a the PhD students are from all over) | |

Yes, Sequoia trees in Germany! There is also one at city hall in Langenargen. This is at the 'garden' island of Mainau. As are these goats and the two pics before the sequoias.
The famous Imperia statue by Peter Lenk (also did the other sculptures)
View from the Univ. of Konstanz campus. Very unusual design plan (1970's) overall. Very 3D and non-linear lines (ok, except those buildings there...) & pathways.
Finally did a hike in the Black Forest, which was a plan from before I came to Germany. 2hr trip with two trains and a bus each way, not too bad for an early Sunday morning.
Mega cairn; this one is for you Hank!
This small city (~80,000) is a regional hub. I'm staying in the Altstadt (old city) portion. Facinating narrow cobblestone streets (no cars) and old buildings with a mix of styles. But also moderized in places with upscale shops, ice cream places, cafes, etc. The waterfront area are both the lake and the Rhine River outlet.
So these little whitefish babies (the ones in the lake...) are getting creamed by this invasive stickleback since ~2014
Albert is a colleage who works at the Fisheries Research Institute. He was so kind to lend me this Dutch-style (he's Dutch) street bike...
