Sunday Bike Tour with Albert

Albert is a colleage who works at the Fisheries Research Institute.  He was so kind to lend me this Dutch-style (he's Dutch) street bike which actually does well on paths.  It has  those side bags which are great for grocery and other trips on weekends.  It's been a game-changer for me in this small town.  I've been getting together with him and his family (son 17yo & wife who is Portugese) for Saturday dinners; e.g. he made a dinner from local fish, then burritos from me, next is a Portugese dinner.  So he speaks to his wife in Portugese, Dutch with his son, Engish with me, and German at the workplace!  And I'm happy if I can just order a piece of apple cake at the bakery in German or get lunch take out at the Thai food truck in town!

So we did this bike trip which was great, about 40k (25mi) over a leisurely 5 hours on a nice Sunday (last in March)

Finally, when I arrived 'home' the super nice granny of the house greeted me with this still warm piece of apple cake, made with local apples!  Sehr lecker!  (very tasty)  It was a great day.
